Larry Wayne Wallis, 60, of Sandpoint, Idaho passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010 from a tree cutting accident. Larry was born in Memphis, Tennessee to Perry Laster and Juanita (Lloyd) Wallis. Larry attended Alisal High School in Salinas, California. Larry served 3 years in the US Navy onboard the US Forrestal as a ship fitter, serving in the Mediterranean. Larry was a mechanic and welder for years in Salinas, California and then as a lumber jack and "tree topper" for many years in Idaho. He often talked of the beauty of Idaho and the people there. Larry had given his heart to God at a young age in Salinas, California. Larry was divorced. He is survived by a sister, Sharon and husband Delmar Yarrow of Clay Center, Kansas and a brother, Glenn A. Wallis and wife Edna of Spring Valley, California. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews and a host of good friends in northern Idaho. Larry was cremated and will be buried in Oakland Union Cemetery in Cloud County, Kansas. There will be a private service at that time. A memorial has been established for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka, Kansas.
