While growing up, Peggy and her family were members of the Presbyterian Church in Sandpoint. She was a piano student; enjoyed playing piano, singing, and marching with the school band. She worked in the concession stand at the Sandpoint city beach with her girlfriends during the summer, and was the queen of Job’s Daughters. She also helped her dad deliver new Cadillac cars from Spokane to his car dealership in Sandpoint. Peggy enjoyed attending social events and dances.
In the fall of 1950 she started college at the University of Idaho and attended for 3 semesters. She was employed as a stenographer in Hanford, WA in January of 1952. She worked there until she married her high school sweetheart Alvin P. Kluver, son of Marcus and Meta Kluver, on the 26th of June the same year. Alvin and Peggy moved to Florida where he was stationed in the Air Force. She continued to work until she became a mother in 1954. Mike, her first of five children, was born on December 21, 1954. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Peggy spent many evenings on the sidelines or bleachers watching her boys participate in wrestling, football, baseball, and basketball. She enjoyed going to dinner parties and playing pinochle at the local senior center. She was competitive and a sharp Skip-Bo and pinochle player, and even tried her band at Texas Hold ‘Em Poker tournaments with her family and friends. Peggy loved to swim, roller-skate, dance, water-ski and bake delicious desserts to satisfy her sweet tooth. Peggy was a devoted mother. One morning, youngest son Stewart was outside in the yard playing. A bear grabbed him and was in the process of dragging him off, but Peggy grabbed a broom and ran out yelling and swinging, scared the bear off, and defended her son. The family is still amazed with her parasailing experience even at the age of 65 at the city beach in Sandpoint.
Peggy will be greatly missed by her family and friends, especially lifelong friends Don and Nancy Johnson.
