Gary Tipps, 74 of Hope died Saturday, January 8, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.
Private family services will be held at a later time.
Gary was born June 11, 1936 in Mason City, Washington the son of William and Vida Tipps. He was raised in Newport and Spokane where he attended schools graduating from West Valley High School in 1955. Following graduation he enlisted in the US Navy where he served 4 years. After his honorable discharge he moved to the Seattle area where he lived for many years. He married Sue Henslee in 1977 in Coeur d’ Alene. They moved to Hope, Idaho in 1979 where they owned and operated Hi Hope Market until 1999. Gary also drove school bus for the Bonner County School District from 1985-1999.
He was a life member of the VFW. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, but the most important thing in his life was his family.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife Sue of Hope; 3 children: Debbie Lewis, Kevin (Kim) Tipps, Ty (Stephanie) Tipps all of Electric City, WA; 5 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren; 1 brother: Ed (Pati) Tipps of Newman Lake, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Billy Merle and 1 grandson Garrett.
