David Bruce Happell

David Bruce Happell, 76, passed away in Spokane, Washington on Saturday, January 8, 2011. Memorial services will be announced and held at a later date. David was born December 5, 1934 to Bruce and Mildred Happell in Buffalo, NY. He grew up in New York, Pennsylvania, and Arizona. He served in the Army and was Korean War Veteran. He married Peggy MacDonald and they had 5 children; Cheryl, Bruce, Bryan, Mark, and James. David was a long distance driver and after moving to Sandpoint in 1972 he became a logger. He enjoyed camping with his children. In 1996 he married Sandra Gullart in Missoula, Montana. He shared the next 14 years of his life in retirement raising Erika and Bobby. David always had projects to do. He never let his illness stop him. He enjoyed fishing, boating and the outdoors in general. He is survived by his wife Sandy and his children: Cheryl (Charles), Bruce (Diane), Bryan, Mark (Tammy), James (Verla), Erika, Bobby: his grandchildren: David, Justin, Charles (Kerri), Kathleen (James), Ryan, Kevin; great grandchildren: Alex, Nick, Carter, Sammantha, Aubrey and by many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, and his grandparents. David will be greatly missed by both family and friends.
