Joseph John Sagerer

Joseph John "Joe" Sagerer, 87, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2007 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, April 16, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 621 Oak St., Sandpoint, ID. Father Dennis C. Day will be officiating. Internment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Joe was born on August 11, 1919, in Brooklyn, New York to Adolf and Emma (Selch) Sagerer. He was married to Dorothy Jarvis on July 28, 1946, in Bay Shore, New York. Joe worked in the plumbing and heating trade and took a correspondence course to become a licensed electrician. He had his own business, JJ Electric, for many years in New York. He was a volunteer fireman for the Bay Shore Fire Department in Bay Shore, NY for over 30 years and was a member of the Hook and Ladder Company. He and Dorothy moved to Sandpoint, Idaho in 1978, where he continued working as a self-employed electrician and contracted with Bird Space Technology to do electrical work at their compound. He was a supporting member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. His hobby was his electrical work and in his retirement he still enjoyed helping his family and friends with electrical problems. His wife, Dottie; his parents, Adolf and Emma Sagerer; his brothers, Adolf, George, Charlie and Jake and his sister Emma preceded Joe in death. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Frank Thieme; his grandson, Joseph, all of Sandpoint, ID; his sister, Pat Schaeffer of San Francisco, CA; his brother-in-law, Bob Martin of Islip, New York; his special nephew, Steve Martin (Catherine & Carys) of Rochester, NewYork; his special nieces, Patricia Schaeffer-Crooks of Washington Crossing, PA; and Dr. Donna Schaeffer of San Francisco and Washington D.C.; and other numerous nephews and nieces.
