Nina Ellen Pomeroy-Hames, 89, of Sandpoint died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at her home.
Memorial services will be conducted 11:00am, Monday, April 11, 2011 at Coffelt Funeral Service, with her son, Pastor Jon Pomeroy of the Sandpoint Church of God officiating. Private family inurnment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Nina was born Feb. 16, 1922 in Graft, Baca County, Colorado the daughter of Ray and Dora Kendall Campbell. She moved to Las Animas and then to Canon City, CO in 1934. She graduated from high school in 1941 and attended Gordon Bible College for 5 years. She also taught 1 year at the school and served as Matron of the Women’s dorm for 2 years. While there she met Warren Pomeroy and they were married on Christmas day 1946. On March 5, 1947 they moved to Eureka, MT where Warren pastored for 20 years. They later moved to Kalispell where they lived for 5 years while Warren received further schooling. They moved to Sandpoint on Dec. 15, 1972 and Nina served as a waitress for a time and later worked as a dietary aide at Sandpoint Manor for 23 years.
Following Warren’s death Nina married Frederick Hames on Nov. 11, 1999 and he preceded her in death in 2001.
Nina was an life long devoted Christian and served alongside her husband as he pastored in Eureka, MT and Sandpoint, Idaho for 45 years..
She is survived by 1 daughter: Elaine (Bob) May of Bozeman, MT; 2 sons: Charles W. Pomeroy of Portland, OR, Jon (Cathy) Pomeroy of Sandpoint; -7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; and 1 sister: Naomi J. Bechtel of Roseville, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Warren Pomeroy and Frederick Hames, 1 son: Edward Pomeroy, 1 granddaughter, Lisa 2 brothers: Larry and L. Burton, and by 2 sisters, Adella and Emma.
