Millie (Louise) was the daughter of Bonnie Behmerwold and Wayman McKinney. Millie married her beloved husband Bennie Aquilla Brewer in 1952. They had three children, LaDonna, Clay, and John.
She began her working career as a waitress at the young age of 12, and became a welder in the Portland Shipyards when she was only 16. Millie and Bennie operated The Red Shed Antique store in Sandpoint. In 1969 she started her own janitorial service, cleaning businesses such as Sandpoint Motors, Bank of Idaho, Unemployment office, Pend ‘Oreille Veterinary, and Northern Lights, Inc.
Millie touched the lives of everyone including helping numerous family members and their children that lived with her throughout her life. She babysat, cooked, comforted and loved them all. Her door was always open to help anyone in need. She was a Foster parent to seventeen children and some of them lived with her for many years.
Her talents were many; from cooking for her family gatherings, sewing, singing, fixing anything, including broken hearts. Millie spent all of her life working and taking care of others selflessly. She worked hard all her life and used to tell her kids, “If you think times are tough try spending your honeymoon living in a tent in the woods.” She loved to camp and fish.
Her giving was astounding. It didn’t matter how tight her budget everyone always got a Christmas gift.
Mom is survived by her three children: LaDonna & Greg Bain, Clay and Linda Brewer and John Brewer; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Jenny & Harry Behmerwold, Grace & Billy Syth; one brother David and Glenna McKinney. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bennie Brewer, siblings: Betty Behmerwold, Edna Pyatt, mother: Bonnie Behmerwold, and father Wayman McKinney.
God truly enriched our lives with our dearest mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. He took her to heaven on Mother’s Day, for she was a mother to many. We love and miss you MOM.
