Dorothy Louise Bennett

October 31, 1919 — May 13, 2011

Dorothy Louise Bennett passed away May 13, 2011 in Sandy, Utah. She was born on October 31, 1919 in Porterville, Utah to Lawrence Carl Phillips and Ada Bell Crawford Phillips. Dorothy grew up in Porterville, Utah and attended high school in Morgan, Utah where she played the clarinet. Her life was that of a farmer’s daughter and so she married a farmer Lloyd A. Bennett on June 21, 1940; they were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. During April of 1950 Dorothy, Lloyd and children moved to Northern Idaho where they farmed and ran a dairy. Dorothy was out in the field right beside Lloyd fixing fences and clearing the land for planting. She and Lloyd also served two stake missions for the church. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband and also her grandson Tad C. Garner. After Lloyd passed away, Dorothy filled a mission in the Church History Department in Salt Lake City. Never one to be idle, she continued her passion for family history after her release, along with tending her garden, bottling anything she could get her hands on and welcoming her children and grandchildren into her little country home in Sandpoint, Idaho. She is survived by her children, Sheldon J. Bennett, Kathryn A. Hill (Gordon Hill), Judy R. Scott (Richard Scott), Janet M Bouse (Daniel Bouse), and Patti L. Withers (Gary Withers). She has a wonderful posterity of 24 grandchildren and 64 great grandchildren. The funeral will be held at the Sunnyside Ward Chapel located at 602 Schweitzer Cut-off Road, Sandpoint, Idaho on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the same location.
