Lucy Mary Albanese died peacefully on May 18th, 2011 at Life Care Center in Sandpoint, Idaho. She was 98 years old. She was born Nov. 7, 1912 in New York City, NY to Pasquale and Mary Gallitto.
She met and married her husband, Dominick in N.Y. in 1933, and was widowed in 1960. She worked hard for many years taking care of her home and children, and also as a professional seamstress. In 1971 she followed her children to California, then to Washington, and finally to Sandpoint, Idaho, but she would always consider New York her home. She will be best remembered as a witty and loving mother, grandmother and friend, who would often burst out singing “When You’re Smiling” at a moment’s notice!
Her family offers sincere thanks to the staff at Life Care for the wonderful care she received, along with their kindness and compassion.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Philip and Nancy Albanese; daughter: Beatrice Albanese; grandchildren: Jeff D’Amato, Rick D’Amato and partner Dan Diaz, Dana Albanese and Dena Mersten; and great grandson Ethan, who brought her great joy, as well as the many friends whom she touched throughout her life.
