Dan Johnson

February 3, 1955 — May 21, 2007

Daniel “DJ” E. Johnson, 52, left this world to continue his journey where there is no stress, no pain and no firewood. “Git Wood Johnson” passed away on Monday, May 21, 2007 in Sandpoint, Idaho from liver failure. The Wake will be held at the family home, 4920 Upper Pack River Road, Sandpoint, Idaho from 12-7 pm, Thursday, May 24, 2007; 12-7pm Friday, May 25, 2007 and 10-2 pm on Saturday, May 26, 2007. A Potluck Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the family home, 4920 Upper Pack River Road, Sandpoint, Idaho. Burial will be at McArthur Cemetery. Terry Velachich will officiate the service. Dan was born on February 3, 1955 in Sandpoint, Idaho, the son of Milton and Marian (Laude) Johnson. He attended area schools and graduated in 1974. Dan’s love for life came from his belief that we are put on this earth to experience everything and squeeze every ounce of joy out of every experience. DJ loved the woods. A chain saw was put in his hands at age 12 and became like a second appendage to him. He was an artist, finding beauty in ordinary things most people would pass up, of course that is mother nature. If he was stressed he’d drive up in the woods as far as he could go, camp out and commune with nature. Dan not only enjoyed the woods but worked in them too, being a logger for most of his life. He brought a Lucas portable sawmill for his work in the woods. Dan “DJ” is survived by his daughter Violet Santo in Tn., 1 sister Carla Johnson (and her daughter Shila Ewing) of Sandpoint, Id.; 2 brothers Wayne Johnson of Sandpoint, Id. and Eric Johnson of North Pole, Alaska. As well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Dan was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Marion Johnson.
