She was born April 4, 1967 in Sandpoint, Idaho at Bonner General Hospital the daughter of Joseph and Ruth Guthrie. She attended local schools and graduated Sandpoint HS in 1985 and the University of Washington in 1995 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology.
On June 18, 1988 she married James Coffelt in Sandpoint.
In her youth, she was active in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Sandpoint High School Marching Band, and Pep Band and loved to play softball and soccer.
She worked for Serv-A-Burger while attending high school, but after moving to the Seattle area in 1988, she worked for Exeter House and later at Norse Home as the Director of Medical Records. Her love for Disney captured her heart and she worked part time for several years making many good friends, which allowed her to take several trips to Disneyland....a truly special place in her heart.
Marie was active in supporting youth programs through her involvement in PTA, Alderwood Little League and Terrace Brier Soccer Club. She supported her children's interests in these sports as well as volleyball, track, choir, band and softball.
Her real passion was baseball. Either rooting on the Mariners and her favorite player, Bret Boone, to her children that played the game which gave her immense satisfaction and great joy. She loved to see the kids play and had many special times with her friends at Alderwood Little League, a place she treasured.
If baseball was her first passion, Disney was her second. She loved to visit the theme park and also enjoyed the time she spent working in the retail store locally. If you wanted to know about Disney, she was the person to ask. The Magical Kingdom truly held a special and wonderful place in her heart. Despite her passion for baseball and Disney they were far surpassed by her deep and abiding love for her family who always came first.
