Terry James Martin, 63, of Sandpoint lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00PM, Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Coffelt Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
He was born Dec. 27, 1947 in San Diego, CA the son of James and Norma Martin. He was raised and attended schools in San Diego. On Aug. 25, 1967 he married Adele Perry in Lemon Grove, CA. They lived in California until 1978 when they moved to Sandpoint where they have since resided.
While living in California Terry worked for the San Diego County Marshalls Office. After moving to Sandpoint he began working for the Sandpoint Police Department until retiring in 2003. He later worked part time for the Bonner’s County Sheriff’s Dept.
He had a passion for music, computer, movies and crossword puzzles. Terry also enjoyed meeting his friends for coffee and catching up on the latest news, and together solving the world’s problems. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and racquetball. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. However no matter how much he enjoyed his hobbies they paled in comparison for the deep love he had for his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Adele of Sandpoint; 3 children: Steven Martin of Sandpoint, Sherry (Dustin) Emick of Sacramento, CA, Cindy (Adam) Hall of Sandpoint; 5 grandchildren: Perry, Isaac, Avery, Emma, Madison; 2 sisters: Deanna (Bill) Schneider of Spokane, WA, and Jeannie (Ray) Kistler of Sandpoint. He was preceded in death by his parents.
