Jack Donald Miller

Jack was born June 6th 1953 in Sandpoint, Idaho to Robert D. & Bonnie N. Miller. Jack joined an older sister (Judy) and brother (Jim), then three years later a little sister (Jan) joined the family. Jack went to Northside Elementary School, then graduated from Clark Fork High School. Jack attended North Idaho College and the University of Idaho graduating in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical education. He continued at Central Washington University receiving his Masters Degree. Jack’s love for sports encouraged him to become a teacher and coach. He coached a variety of sports, but his love of Basketball shown through. This love for Basketball took him to visit places across the United States and Foreign countries, with his final coaching job being in the CBA Basketball league in Yakima, Washington. During the summer months he worked for the USFS in Priest Lake, Idaho, which entailed fighting forest fires and also preparing helicopters with men and gear. In 1998 while helping friends Jack has a life changing accident. Jack has since resided at his current residence on Washington Street in Sandpoint. Idaho. He continued to Love the game of Basketball by helping local kids, coaching them on how to be better players on his outdoor basketball court. Along with his Love for Basketball, Jack loved his Family and Friends. He would drop anything if a friend called and said they needed help. Jack’s other interests were hunting, fishing and having his father work on numerous cars, so he would have the best looking and hottest car. To his father’s dismay, he would up and sell the car and start the process all over again. These hobbies lead to many a tale that was told!! Jack is survived by his two sons, JD and Devon Miller, along with one grandson, Gabrielle. Also surviving is his mother, Bonnie Neu Miller, of Sandpoint, and two sisters Judy (Loren) Spielman of Sandpoint and Jan (John) Scott of Sagle. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Melynda, (Greg Sackett), Logan & Kayten Kunde, Lance, Kelly, Mason, Austin, Dallas (Crystal), Audriana, Lucius & Elliana Spielman, along with Ashley and Brent Scott. Also surviving are his Aunts Betty, Virginia, Laurella and Gerry with numerous cousins. Please Join the Family at the First Baptist Church, 1230 Michigan Street, Sandpoint, Idaho on Saturday, June 11th at 1:30 PM, in celebration of Jack’s Life, FREEDOM, his love of Basketball & stories!!
