Betty J. Ahlquist

Betty J. Ahlquist, 83, of Sandpoint died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Bonner General Hospital. Private family services will be held at a later time. Betty was born Feb. 6, 1928 in Des Moines, Iowa on Feb. 6, 1928 the daughter of Leroy and Elan Roark Pennington. She married Philip Dorland on Jan. 4, 1945 in San Diego, CA and they were later divorced. In 1947 she married Edward Ahlquist and they lived in California for many years where she worked as an accountant and bookkeeper. In 1988 they moved to Sandpoint where she has since resided. She enjoyed shopping, travel, puzzles, making quilts and dolls, and was an exceptional seamstress. However the greatest joy in her life was her family. She is survived by her son: Dave and his wife Nona Dorland of Sandpoint; 3 grandsons: Tony, David, Jim; 1 granddaughter: Christina Cooper; 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; and by Bubba her best friend. She was preceded in death by her husband.
