Gregory Ward Eilerman

Gregory Ward Eilerman, 78, of Sagle, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Kootenai Medical Center. Memorial services will be conducted 11:00AM, Monday, June 13, 2011 at Coffelt Funeral Chapel, with Chaplain Brian Noble, officiating. He was born Dec. 15, 1932 in San Mateo, CA the son of Fred and Lorene Eilerman. Greg attended schools in Woodside, CA following graduation he attended the University of Montana for 2 years after which enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp where he served from 1954-1956. Following his honorable discharge he worked at Lockheed Corp, and Ampex Electronics. He then attended San Mateo Junior College where he received an AA in Fire Science. He worked for the Woodside Fire District from 1965-1984 at which time he retired. Greg married Beverly Whitmire on Dec. 5, 1969 and they moved to Sagle, Idaho in 1984. In 1993 he began working for the Sagle Fire Dept. serving at assistant chief and later fire chief, retiring in 2007. In his spare time he was a passionate musician and played steel guitar. However the greatest love he had was for his family. He is survived by his wife Beverly of Sagle; 7 children: Matthew (Margarita) Eilerman , Darin (Peggy) Eilerman both of Deer Park, WA, Tina (Joe) Ruiz of Brentwood, CA, Michael Payton, Bob (Mary) Payton both of California, Eric (Connie) Whitmire of Spokane, WA, Jody Whitmire of California; 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family suggests memorials be given to the American Cancer Society.
