Mylo F. McFarland, 80, passed away in Hayden, Idaho on Friday,
June 10, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 25th, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel, Sandpoint, Idaho. Dale Coffelt will be officiating with inurnment in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
The family will host a celebration of Mylo’s life on Sunday, June 26th, from 1 pm until 3 pm at the family home in Hayden. Family and friends are invited.
Mylo was born in Scobey, Montana on April 22, 1931, the son of Edward and Violet McFarland. He attended school in Scobey, MT until the family moved to Kootenai, ID in the early 1940’s where he attended the Kootenai School.
He worked on a local farm for awhile and at the age of 17 began working construction. He worked on both the Cabinet Gorge and the Noxon Dams and then followed heavy construction jobs throughout the Northwest. He worked for Grant Construction, Murphy Brothers, Degerstrom Construction and retired from Inland Asphalt in 1993. He worked as an operating engineer for the International Operating Engineers Union, local 370, out of Spokane, WA. He has maintained a home in Hayden since the early 1970’s and was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #4080.
Mylo enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycles and for 10 consecutive years he took his Harley to Sturgis, SD. He was a member of the “Brothers of the Third Wheel.” He also enjoyed classic cars owning a 1964 ½
Ford Thunderbird and a 1977 Ford Ranchero. This May he watched his Thunderbird participate in the Sandpoint Lost in the Fifties parade. He liked to work on his motorcycles, his 3 wheeler and his cars.
He is survived by Pat Brown, the love of his life, and his significant other,
in Hayden, ID; two sons Mylo F (and Debbie) McFarland Jr. in Spokane, WA; Randy L. McFarland in Spokane, WA; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren; and a brother Ed McFarland in Costa Mesa, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
