Ardeth Jean Schukar

June 1, 1923 — July 19, 2011

On Tuesday, July 19, 2011 Ardeth “Ardie” Jean Schukar left our world to go bake cookies for the angels. Ardie was known about town as “the cookie lady”, as she made cookies for friends, neighbors and family. Over the years Ardie had literally made thousands and thousands of cookies just to give away. She also made a mean pumpkin bread. Private family services were held. Ardie was born on June 1, 1923 in Waverly, Iowa, daughter of Frederick Williams Schafer and Gladys Maude Schafer. She married Arthur Schukar in 1946 and they moved to California in 1952. They moved to Sandpoint in 1993 from San Diego, California to be near their daughter, Linda and her family. Her husband, Art, passed away in 2004 and Ardie had been patiently waiting to join him since. Ardie was a great great grandma and very proud of it. She is survived by many loving family members: daughter, Linda Jean Cox and husband Richard of Sandpoint, Idaho; Linda’s son, Warren William Cox and wife Leanna of Sandpoint, Idaho; Warren’s sons Scott Allen Cox and wife Kamara and their two daughters, Emma and Alyxandria of Spanaway, Washington; Linda’s daughter Stacy Diane Roget and her husband Steve of Sandpoint, Idaho; Stacy’s twin daughter Tiffany Jean Ramsay and her partner Tyler and their daughters, Lacelyn, Shaylee and Issabella of Sandpoint, Idaho; Stacy’s other twin daughter Samantha Ann Garton and husband Josh and their son Cameron of Sandpoint, Idaho; Steve’s daughters Felicia and Brittany; Son Edward Arthur Schukar and wife Diana of Kennewick, Washington; Ed’s daughter Heidi Greenwalt and her partner Don and her daughter Elaine of Spokane, Washington. Ed’s daughter Melissa Hein and her husband Don of Spokane, Washington, Ed’s son Edward Schukar II and wife Stacey and their son Edward III, Diana’s daughter Denise Miller and husband Rick and daughter Mariana and son Vinny and Chris; Diana’s daughter Stephanie Morgan and son Robert. Also longtime family friends Susan Pleasant and Stephen Nelson of Sandpoint, Idaho. All of Ardie’s family and friends will long cherish the memory of Ardie’s “care packages” of cookies and other goodies, either hand delivered or shipped across the country by mail if necessary. If you knew Ardie you were sure to get lovingly baked cookies on a regular basis. When you visited her home it always smelled of fresh baked goodies and you were always welcomed to try a sample of whatever had just come out of her oven. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and loved her. The next time it rains, if you think you smell chocolate chip cookies, you’ll know why.
