Lorraine Regina Hansen

May 25, 1925 — June 14, 2007

Lorraine Regina Hansen, 82, surrounded by her loving family went home to be with the Lord on June 14, 2007 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 16, at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Pastor Steve Bradshaw will be officiating. Following the services, friends and family are invited to a potluck gathering at Regina and Buff’s home at 812 McGhee Road in Ponderay. Lorraine was born on May 25, 1925 in Sandpoint, Idaho to Regina and Claire LaFavor. She went to school at Martin Slough School and lived with the Principle Hubert Foy and his wife Bunnie during the school year. During the summer she would go home to a logging camp at Hell Roaring Creek near Pack River. She met and fell in love with Jack Hansen and they were married on December 31, 1943. Shortly after, Jack left to serve in World War II. During this time Lorraine stayed with his parents in Sandpoint and volunteered in the Civil Air Patrol in the early 1950’s. After returning from the war they moved to Portland, Oregon where Jack worked the shipyard for a short period. Then they returned to Sandpoint to build their home at 813 N. Division where they lived and raised their family together for 60 years. Lorraine worked for the Modern Cleaners, Rosenberger Realty, the District Judge, Margarete Burns and Dr. Forest Bird. When she was not working she spent her time being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Lorraine also loved to volunteer her time for the benefit of others. She volunteered for the Red Cross and the Democratic Party, but most recently the Sandpoint Senior Thrift Store was where she went to give herself and meet new people. She enjoyed spending time with Jack outside in their yard watching the squirrels and birds. Working on her lawn and flower gardens during the summer became a passion for her. Jack and Lorraine decorated their home for the holidays, which the community has long enjoyed. Lorraine moved in with her daughter Regina who cared for her over the last nine months. She really enjoyed being there, making cookies with her great-grandchildren and being surrounded by all her loving family. She is survived by her 3 children, a son Claire (Silvia) Hansen, 2 daughters Regina Hammack (Buff Johnson) and Sonja (Russ) Brisboy, a sister Shirley Roth, seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many other friends and family. She was preceeded in death by her husband Jack Hansen, her mother Regina LaFavor and her father Claire LaFavor. Memorials may be made to the Wishing Star Foundation of Sandpoint at 665 E. Mountain View Rd., Sandpoint, ID 83864. The entire family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Pastor Steve Bradshaw and his wife Cindy for faithfully loving and ministering to us. May you rest in peace with Jesus Christ and know that you are in our hearts forever.
