Clarence W. Johnson, 87, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho on Friday, August 12, 2011. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 18, 2011 in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Pastor Barry Johnson, New Song Bible Church, will be officiating with interment following in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Clarence was born in Sandpoint on May 9, 1924 the son of Charles and Bertha Johnson. He grew up in Cocolalla where he attended school and operated the family farm raising both dairy and beef cattle. He also logged in the area until his retirement in 1987. He raised and showed draft horses. He married his wife Betty on July 10, 1951 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was a member of the New Song Bible Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting and taking family and friends on sleigh rides on the farm. He and Betty enjoyed traveling with their 5th wheel, taking trips to California, Arizona, Alaska and Nebraska. He liked to camp on the St Joe with family and friends and always enjoyed his work. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty in Cocolalla, ID; 3 children Wade (and Chris) Clary of Athol, Idaho; Jo Scott in Sagle, Idaho; Brett (and Jennifer) Johnson of Sagle, Idaho; 7 grandchildren Mark, Matt, Kerri, Brandon, Tyler, Kim and Chad; and 7.5 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother Charles Johnson in Port Hill, Idaho and 2 sisters Evelyn Keller in Sagle, Idaho and Gladys Johnson in Sandpoint, Idaho He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers Eugene, Kenneth and Marvin. Memorials may be made to the New Song Bible Church in memory of Clarence Johnson.
