Beverley A. Martin, age 81, Sagle, ID passed away peacefully September 11, 2011. Born 1930 in Prairie City, Oregon. Married Merril L. Martin on September 20, 1947. Preceded in death by father Sherman Davis and mother Helen (Ray) Davis, her husband Merril Martin, sisters Genevieve Anderson and Raema Laurence, and brother Sherman Davis. Survived by sister Sararose Harris; children Carol Martin, Kay Moline, Allen Martin (wife, Alyson); seven grandchildren, Kyle Martin (wife, Natasha), LaShae (Fristoe) Brolliar (husband, Rob), Brian Moline (wife, Lisa), Stacey (Moline) Riter (husband, Sam), Derek Martin, Dustin Martin, Danika Martin; two great-grandchildren, Emerson Riter and Owen Riter; and numerous nieces and nephews with whom she was very close; and dear friends Ruby Hyde and Leona Crabb.
Grandma Martin spent many years as a U.S. Postal worker, first in Murtaugh, ID and later in Sagle, ID. She was a fixture in the Sagle community, adored by those who had the fortune of knowing her and loved without reservation by her family. She enjoyed spending countless hours with friends and family, wanting for nothing, save for the pleasure of watching a grandchild’s athletic event, reading a tattered mystery novel, or completing the most challenging crossword puzzle in that day’s paper. She lived most of her days with husband Merril on ‘The Ranch’, which sits at the top of the road bearing his name in Sagle. They enjoyed all that the ranch offered from morel mushrooms in the spring, huckleberries in the summer, to the small apple orchard in fall, and amazing wildlife throughout; even sharing her porch with a confused bear for a few days.
Beverley was spirited well into old age, traveling to see friends and family in Washington, Oregon, Florida, New York and elsewhere. She was happy to share a glass of wine, watch a college football game, or even bowl a few frames with the league in Sandpoint on weeknights. She gave of herself in every way, and those closest to her gave back in equal measure. She was blessed to have been a part of an amazing North Idaho community, and the community was blessed to have her. She will be missed.
Please join us to celebrate Beverley’s life on Saturday, October 1st, 12 noon until 2pm at Second Avenue Pizza in Sandpoint.
