Ronald Ken Thompson, 75, of Sandpoint passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.
There will be a celebration of Ron’s life on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at the VFW Hall in Sandpoint from noon to 3:00pm.
He was born December 16, 1936 in Santa Maria, CA the son of Kenneth and Eula Thompson. He graduated from Santa Maria High School in 1955 and on Dec. 27, 1956 married his high school sweetheart Beverly M. Compton. Together they had 4 children: Rod, Greg, Cindy Wood, Carlyn Lynch. He has 12 grandchildren: Melissa, Derek, Gary, Travis, Lindsy, Corey, Rachel, Missy, Natasha, Megan, Adam, Ashley; and 8 great grandchildren.
Ron served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1959 after which he worked at Vandenburg AFB, CA for Avco and later Textron retiring in 1986 when he moved to Sandpoint, Idaho.
Ron enjoyed geology, hiking, and music as his hobbies.
