Mabel Margaret Hernvall, 83, of Sandpoint passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 surrounded by her loving family.
Memorial services will be conducted 11:00AM Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Coffelt Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Jon Pomeroy of the Sandpoint Church of God, officiating.
Mabel was born Nov. 25, 1927 in Arlington, SD, the daughter of Andrew and Nellie Christensen Jensen. She moved as a child with her family to Kootenai, Idaho. She was educated here and graduated Sandpoint High School in 1946. On July 28, 1946 she married Robert (Bob) Lewis Hernvall in Sandpoint.
In 1947, shortly after their marriage, they moved to Priest Lake, Idaho where they lived until 1972 when they moved to Kennewick, WA. They returned to the Sandpoint area in 1977 where they have since resided. While living in Kennewick she worked for Welch’s Beverage Company.
Mabel was a loving, gentle lady who exuded kindness to all she met. She loved children and provided a nurturing environment to all she was privileged to care for. She played violin in the Jensen family band at various locations in North Idaho. Mabel also enjoyed sewing, fishing, volunteering at the animal shelter and was a master at gardening.
Mabel is survived by 3 children: Ron (Mary) Hernvall of Hemphill, TX, Larry (Geri) Hernvall of Priest Lake, ID, Jack (Cindy) Hernvall of West Linn, OR; 8 grandchildren: Ande, Bethany (and their mother Vikki), Richard, James, Christopher, Jennifer, Wendy, and Jennifer; 11 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Walter (Netia) Jensen of Baker City, OR, Martin (Erna) Jensen of Kennewick, WA; 3 sisters-in-law: Lois Steen, Ruth McBurney, Nina Kotschevar all of Sandpoint, ID. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, and 1 brother Jimmy Jensen.
