Betty J. Johnson

Betty Jene Johnson, 85. of Sagle, passed away, Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Life Care of Sandpoint. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, October 28, 2011at Coffelt Funeral Service, with Pastor Barry Johnson, of New Song Bible Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Friends may call at Coffelt Funeral Chapel, Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 2:00-5:00PM. Betty was born May 25, 1926 in Page, Nebraska the daughter of John and Ida Taylor Sorenson. She grew up in Page and moved with her family to Marsing, Idaho in 1939, and then to Cocolalla, Id in 1943. On July 10, 1951 she married Clarence Johnson in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Clarence passed away on August 12, 2011. Betty worked at Farragut Naval Station, the Southside School and as a cook at the View Restaurant. In retirement she and Clarence enjoyed traveling in their 5th Wheel to California, Arizona, Alaska, and Nebraska. She also loved camping and spending time with her family and friends. Betty was an extraordinarily hard working woman. She did whatever needed to be done to keep house and home functioning smoothly. She worked with Clarence in the hay fields, milked cows, and raised a huge garden which she canned and shared with others. She tended her aging parents and Clarence’s parents in their later years. Of all the things she did, by far the greatest was being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed making wonderful memories for her children such as taking them creek fishing every year on opening day. She was more than just mom she was a dear friend to her children. Betty is survived by 3 children: Wade (and Chris) Clary of Athol, Idaho, Jo Scott of Sagle, ID, Brett (and Jennifer) Johnson of Sagle; 7 grandchildren: Mark, Matt, Kerri, Brandon, Tyler, Kim and Chad; and 7.7 great grandchildren, 1 sister: Ollie Lytle of Boise, ID, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a baby boy Victor J. Clary, 1 brother John and 2 sisters Doris McKay, Fern Hickey and her son-in-law Larry Scott. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials for Clarence & Betty Johnson be made to New Song Bible Church Memorial Tree Fund, 470250 Hwy 95, Sagle, Idaho 83860.
