Fredrick Daniel Hartman passed away at home on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. He was 80.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Coffelt's Funeral Home. Pastor Barry Johnson & Dale Coffelt will officiate. A reception will follow at the VFW Hall in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Fred was born November 10, 1930, in Lucile, Idaho to Fred & Esther Hartman. After the death of his father, Esther remarried David Housekeeper.
Fred joined the Army in 1949 and was honorably discharged in 1953. He married Shirley Tucker in January of 1954 and after having two daughters, Vickie & Linda, they later divorced in 1957.
In 1969 he met the love of his life, Marge. While building their lives together and raising their children, they also managed to provide Bonner and surrounding counties with the first ambulance service and a towing service for 40 years.
Fred started Sandpoint Ambulance around 1964, adding the towing service shortly thereafter in 1966. He and Marge ran the Sandpoint Ambulance together until retiring in December of 1999. Fred later retired from the towing business in August 2010.
Fred is survived by his family, Vicki Womack (wife of Bobby) of Nederland, TX, Linda Remsberg (wife of Dan) of Floressant, CO, Dawn Hartman of Sandpoint, ID, Diann Loosmore of Sioux Falls, SD, Fred Hartman Jr. (husband of Donna) of Sandpoint, Scott Hartman of Sandpoint, Matthew Grancher of Sandpoint, Marie Burns of Sandpoint, Cleo Coutu (husband - John) of Deer Lodge, MT and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred Hartman, Esther and David Housekeeper, his wife Marge, son Duane Scott, granddaughter Amber Weatherford, and great-granddaughter Chloe Breaux.
