Wauneta Hazel Perry was born to Darrell and Mary Perry on April 27, 1932 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She moved to Dover, Idaho when she was 5 years old and remained in Dover her entire life. She attended schools in Dover and Sandpoint, Idaho and attended the Dover Baptist Church along with many of her childhood friends.
On March 1, 1951 she married Arthur “Art” Zantow in Sandpoint, Idaho and they were together for 43 beautiful years. Together they had 5 children. She was known for treating their spouses as one of her own and was deeply respected for that.
In 1979 empty nest syndrome prompted her to secure a job with the Sandpoint Manor where she became a housekeeper and eventually became head of housekeepers. In September 1992 she retired to care for her husband Art, who was extremely ill. He passed away in 1994.
After a time she reconnected with a childhood friend, Bob Becker. They had some great times traveling with the Good Sams Club and hanging out with old friends and making new ones along the way. Bob Becker, Mitch & Marilyn Becker, Kelly & Doug Burt as well as their children and entire family became a very important part of Wauneta’s life. She loved them all very much.
Wauneta was a very social person who loved people and had a great memory for faces. She will be remembered for her radiant beauty and her caring heart. She will also be remembered for her love for her family and her extended family, for her beautiful flower gardens, her arts and crafts, and her interest in family history and her love for all of her family.
