Laura Jane “Jerri” Trulock passed away on November 1st, 2011 in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Born February 19, 1920 in Mount Vernon, NY, daughter of Thomas Angus Jenkins and Marjory Lane Jenkins. Jerri graduated from Saint Lawrence University in 1942. She married Thomas M. Trulock , November 9th, 1945 and moved to Hamden CT where they lived for sixteen years. In 1962 they moved to Guilford CT where she resided until 2003 when she moved to Sandpoint ID to live with her son.
Jerri and her sisters “Jo” Baringer and “Micki” Reinhardsen grew up summering in the family cottage in Sachem’s Head, enjoying sailing, tennis, family and friends.
Jerri worked at Day Prospect Hill in New Haven as the Athletic Director and then Hopkins (Day Prospect) School as College Counselor and Girls Athletics Director until her retirement. Each year the Jerri Trulock Award is presented to a female Hopkins athlete for the exceptional display of sportsmanship.
She also enjoyed her long term relationship as an agent for Page-Taft Real Estate in Guilford CT.
Survived by her children, JoAnn “Beence” Loomis (John) of Truckee, CA, Thomas M. Trulock, Jr.(Marjorie) of Sagle, ID and Laurie Trulock of Killingworth. CT. Also, sister Joanne “Jo” Baringer, grandchildren Ben (Alicia) and Will (Katie) Loomis, Piper and Samantha Trulock, great-granddaughter “Lili” Loomis and five nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Tom and sister Marjory “Micki” Reinhardsen.
Jer was a lifetime member of the Sachem’s Head Yacht Club and was a volunteer with the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Key Largo, Fla., where she and her sister Jo spent many wonderful “winters” at the Ocean Reef Club.
Jer was known by her family, friends and colleagues for her zest for life and sense of humor.
In keeping with her love of parties, Jer’s life will be celebrated with summer gatherings in Sagle, ID and Sachem’s Head, CT.
