Melvin J. Williams, 76 passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2007 with his family
at his side.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 28, 2007 in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel, 109 N. Division Ave., in Sandpoint, Idaho. Pastor Jon Pomeroy will officiate with military honors following in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Melvin was born in Osage, WY on Jan. 2, 1931, the son of Charles and Ruby Williams. He attended school in Rawlins, WY prior to joining the US Marine Corps. He served 6 years with the Marines and saw action in Korea. On Dec. 3, 1953 he married Marjorie Buchanon in Yuma, AZ.
He followed construction jobs in the Northwest, working on many dams in the Columbia River System. He also worked on both the Noxon Dam and the Libby Dam. He operated heavy equipment on the job sites.
He was a member of the Marine Corps League and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 2453. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching “old western” movies, and a good cup of coffee with his friends.
Melvin is survived by 2 sons Bill Williams and Melvin L. Williams both of Sagle; 3 daughters Susan Daniels of Sandpoint; Janet Lowry of Sagle; Sharon Kallio of Sandpoint, 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. His brother Clifford Williams of Poulsbo, WA. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ruby, wife Marjorie, son Harold and brother Wayne.
