Park W. “Bill” Fournier, 86, longtime Sandpoint resident passed away on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00AM, Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 at Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Interment with military rites will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Friends may call at Coffelt's Funeral Chapel, Friday from 5:00-7:00PM.
Bill was born Feb. 28, 1925 in Selle, Idaho the son of Edward and Vera Fournier. His early school years were in the Oden School, and he graduated Sandpoint High School in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp in December of 1943 where he served in the pacific theatre; at Guadalcanal, Guam, Okinawa, Japan and China. He returned home in April of 1946 and in June of that year married his high school sweetheart Freda Messmore.
Bill worked for R.J. Spring Lumber Company, Doolittle Mill, Woods Mill, and Butler Mill prior to owning Kootenai Cut Stock. After retiring he kept busy doing odd jobs for friends and family. Bill also enjoyed working with his TD9 Cat which he claimed “was rusting on the beach when Columbus landed.” Bill looked forward to summers at his and Freda’s lake cabin and was happiest when all the family was there.
He is survived by his wife Freda; daughters: Sheryl (Bob) Sedra, Billie Rae (Stuart) Lawson; sons: Dayton (Ann) Fournier, Casey Fournier; brother: Bud Fournier: grandchildren: Toni Lund, Jodi (Mike) Yeager, Dusty (Cheryl) Fournier, Brandon (Michele) Fournier, J. Paul (Kiley) Fournier, Heidi (Justin) Williams, Lincoln (Jordanna) Fournier, Tyler (Heidi) Sedra, Laurell Lawson, Justina Lawson, Camie (George) Howell, Rene Fournier, Bryce Fournier; 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Edna Peterson, Opal Olson; brothers: Earl and George Fournier; son: Doug Fournier; grandson: Garett Sedra; great grandson: Curtis Fournier; and great great granddaughter: Kaitlin Price.
The family suggests memorials to a charity of donor’s choice.
