Averie Elizabeth Rickman, 7, passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011 at Bonner General Hospital.
A balloon release celebrating Averie’s life will take place at noon on Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at the center of the long bridge in Sandpoint.
Averie was born April 15, 2004 in Auburn, Washington. Averie was a crazy, beautiful, smart, energetic 7 year old who kept everyone on their toes. Averie had been fighting Alpers since her first seizure in 2008 at the age of four. Averie was strong willed and stubborn and we believe that’s what kept her going on all the days her disorder created obstacles. She loved her brother in heaven, baby sister, her cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. Her favorite things were movies, horses and mac and cheese. She was forever inventing words like “snorping,” ssswoop”, and sneeznex.” Averie always had us laughing. We will miss our special little girl who we love, one cow, two moons, and three fences big.
She is survived by her parents: Amber (Justin) Koogler of Sagle, Chad Rickman of Beaverton, OR; her sister: Ellery Koogler in Sagle; grandparents: Markee & Chuck Cox of Kalama, WA, Debra Frank of Sagle; Debra & Doug Rickman of San Isabel, CO; great grandparents: Mark & Maxine Stimmel of Homedale, ID, Neva Cox of Jerome, ID, Dorothy Rickman and Doris Lyon both of Pueblo, CO. She was preceded in death by her brother: Lane Rickman.
The family suggests memorials to umdf.org or the donor’s local Ronald McDonald House.
