Virginia Arnold Babler
June 22, 1922 - Nov. 19, 2011
She was always "Gin". Gin was born in Kansas City, MO; In 1940 at the age of 18 she married Richard Babler. They made their home in Milwaukie OR, where they raised their daughters; Bonnie, Linda and Nancy (with the help of Gram Cook). Gin and Richard divorced in 1965. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie in 1968.
Gin loved raising her family in small town Milwaukie. She had many friends, including the store merchants who in those days knew everyone by name. She had a good sense of humor and loved to bet on just about anything. Gin's eyes would always lite-up and her feet would start tapping when she heard any good music, from Guy Lombardo to Sinatra, she loved it all. She was also very generous and enjoyed giving to others. Gin could also be stubborn and dig her heels in and that was that. She had many great friends over the years that played a big part in her life. We will remember them all as we remember our mom.
In 1997, Gin moved to Clark Fork ID, to be cared for by her daughter, Linda and family.
"G-G" loved living close to her great granddaughters, they brought her great joy. She had many years enjoying the love and attention that was given to her while living in Idaho.
Gin was a long time member of the Milwaukie Lutheran Church, where Pastor Lloyd Roholt was always a great source of comfort to her throughout the years.
At the age of 89, Gin passed away peacefully at the Life Care Center in Sandpoint, ID with her daughter, Linda by her side. She is survived by daughters; Linda Hewitt, Clark Fork ID; Nancy and husband Mike Day, Estacada OR; grandchildren; Travis and wife Jenni Hewitt, Sandpoint ID; Carrie Hansen, Jacksonville, FL, Andy Day, Milwaukie, OR and Joe Day, Mollala OR; great granddaughters, Tori and Madi Hewitt and Abby Hansen.
