Harvey Ross Converse

Harvey Ross Converse, 76, passed away in Sagle on Friday, January 13, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 18th in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Wayne Gunter, Sagle, Idaho will be officiating and interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park. The visitation will be Tuesday afternoon 12 noon until 6:00pm in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel, Pine and Division, Sandpoint, Idaho. Harvey was born in Sagle, Idaho on Oct. 28, 1935, the son of Ross and Leona Converse. He attended school in Sagle and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1954. He served with the US Army from 1958 until 1960. On January 26, 1962 he married Doris Claggett in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho Harvey worked, as a logger and a miner and then as a lineman, for Bonneville Power. In 1989 he retired, as a line foreman, after 28 years. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow Brotherhood of the Boy Scouts of America and served as a troop leader, the NRA, the American Trappers Association and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and trapping. He loved his guitar and musical sing-alongs with friends and family. Harvey is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Doris at the home in Sagle, his children Cherie Stzelecki in Spokane, WA; Hazel Curtis in Lewiston, ID; Ross “Bud” Converse in Viola, Idaho; Teddi Darrah in Sagle, ID; Donna King in Spokane, WA; his sister Marie Hawkins in Sagle, ID and his brother Howard Converse in Sagle, ID. 13 grandchildren and 2 great grand children also survive He was preceded in death by his parents Ross and Leona. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Harvey Ross Converse.
