Catherine “Kay” E. Cridland, 74, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2007 in Sandpoint, Idaho after a brief battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 18, 2007 at Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel, 109 N. Division Ave., in Sandpoint, Idaho. Pastor Jon Pomeroy and Father Dennis C. Day will be officiating.
Kay was born on June 20, 1933 in Miles City, Montana the daughter of Arthur and Sally (Frankforter) Pembroke. She grew up attending schools in Miles City, Mt. and married Leonard Cridland on June 24, 1950 in Miles City, Montana.
In 1968 they moved to Billings, Mt. and then to Bozeman and Belgrade, Mt. for Leonard’s job. In 1971 they moved to Alaska living there for three years on the Alaska-Canada Border. They returned to the lower United States in 1974 to Sandpoint, Id.
Her early years in Sandpoint were spent tending bar at the Tam and working for Modern Cleaners as a seamstress. Kay was a wonderful seamstress and decided to stay at home to raise her five children. She knitted numerous sweaters with various designs for all her family and friends, as well as, making prom and wedding dresses.
Kay was an excellent cook, always making meals for her family. She enjoyed watching T.V. and her favorite programs were Court T.V., and Walker Texas Ranger. She was an avid reader, especially Loius LaMour and Romance books. When her eyesight failed to the point that she could no longer read she listened to books on tape.
She had a special love for her dog “Muffin”.
Kay was a former member of the Eagles Lodge from 1965 to 2005 enjoying 40 years of fellowship.
She is survived by her daughters Teri Thompson of Sandpoint, Id.; Debbie (Bill) Ervin of Sandpoint, Id.; Alesia (Chris) Schafer of Sandpoint, Id, and Anita (Bob) Byers of Ponderay, Id.; Daughter-in-law Corinne Cridland of Spokane, Wa.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Bobby Pembroke of Gaylord, Michigan and Harold (Val) Pembroke of Helena, Mt. and 2 sisters Mary Graham of Helena, Mt. and Bunny (Rich) Numberg of Wibaux, Mt.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard, son Ed and a grandson Leonard Byers, Sister Florence Chubb, and a brother Lawrence Pembroke
