William “Bill” Kannady, 96, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho on Sunday, August 19, 2007.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, August 24th, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel, 109 N. Division Ave., in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Pastor Jon Pomeroy, First Church of God, will be officiating.
Bill was born in Eagle, Idaho (near Murray) on April 9, 1911 and moved to Spokane, WA in 1918. In 1931 he moved to the Sandpoint area, working in the logging camps during the era of the Humbird Sawmill. On March 26, 1936 he married Lucille Smith in Spokane, WA.
He later went to work for the local pole yards, and was a crane operator for the McFarland Pole Company. He retired in 1976 after 23 years with McFarland’s. He also operated a family dairy farm, on Baldy Road, for many years.
He attended the Sandpoint Senior Center and enjoyed making wood items for the auctions. He enjoyed fishing, picking huckleberries, woodworking and spending his winters in Arizona.
Bill is survived by 3 daughters – Sharon L. Girtman of Sandpoint; Virginia A. Buck of Sandpoint; and Claire L. Wallace of Careywood, ID. 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lucille, and 4 sisters.
Memorials may be made to the Sandpoint Senior Center in memory of Bill Kannady.
