Lucille Sylvia Simonson

July 28, 1919 — February 10, 2012

Lucille Sylvia Simonson, 92, of Sandpoint, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at Bonner General Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00PM, Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Sandpoint Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Andy Kennaly officiating. Interment will take place in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Friends may call at Coffelt Funeral Service on Wednesday from 3:00-6:00PM. Lucille was born July 28, 1919 in Clark Forks, Idaho the daughter of Ruben and Florence Montague. She moved to Sandpoint as a child in 1921 and has continued to live here since that time except for two short years in Bonners Ferry. She married Edgar F. Simonson on Sept. 23, 1939 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Lucille was a committed and devoted member of her church, the First Presbyterian in Sandpoint. She served as church secretary for a time, and was active in all aspects of church life. She also was a volunteer extraordinaire, working with the Martha Sewing Circle at the First Presbyterian Church, the Bonner County Historical Society, the Well Child Care Clinic, Girl Scouts and at schools while her daughter was young. She also was active in raising funds where needed. In addition, for over 30 years, she made quilts through the Presbyterian Church for the local and Spokane Missions. She is survived by her daughter: Gayle “Mike” Clark of Spokane; grandson: Rick “Shelley” Clark of Spokane; 1great granddaughter, Kaylee; 1sister Bonnie Boyer. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002, an infant daughter Elizabeth Ann; 5 brothers and 1 sister. The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of donor’s choice.
