George William McNeil passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2012at home with his family.
He was born on December 12, 1942 in New Orleans. Louisiana where he graduated from Warren Easton High School in 1960. He earned his AA degree in drafting and fine arts from Delgado Community College in New Orleans. For many years he worked as a design draftsman for the major engineering companies in New Orleans. He served with the US Army from 1964 until 1966. The family moved to the Sandpoint area in September 2001.
He served with the US Army from 1964 until 1966 and was a member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sandpoint.
George was a beloved and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Kim McNeil; daughter Katie and her husband Beck Nieman and granddaughters Margaret and Elizabeth Nieman. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Cedric S and Karen Aleman McNeil of Metairie, Louisiana and multiple nieces and nephews, the respective spouses and children.
He was preceded in death by his father Cedric S McNeil Sr. and Rosalie Meyer Turner
He will be sorely missed my family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 601 S Lincoln St., Sandpoint, Idaho, on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 11:00 am. Father Dennis C Day will be officiating. Private inurnment will take place at the family cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the St. Joseph’s Building Fund or a charity of one’s choice.
