Earl Sewall Clay, Jr., 81, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho on Wednesday, February 29, 2012.
Memorial services will be part of the Sunday morning worship service, 10:30am, Sunday, March 11th. The services will be in Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with pastor Steve Nickodemus officiating.
Earl was born in Galesburg, Illinois on June 27, 1930, the son of Earl and Rosiland Clay, Sr. In 1948 he graduated from high school in Galesurg, Illinois. He was inducted into the US Army in 1951, serving during the Korean Conflict, being discharged in 1953. After the Army, Earl went back to college graduating from the University of Minnesota in 1956 with an Associate of Arts Degree. In 1960, Earl decided to go back to college during the summers and evenings, and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Sciences during the summer of 1966.
During his life Earl had numerous jobs. He worked for the railroad industry doing stenography, owned his own business, was an office manager, sold real estate and insurance, worked in home building and design, and he was also involved in purchasing and sales. Earl moved to Sandpoint, Idaho in 1994.
Earl is survived by his daughter Cory Clay of Cloquet, MN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Virginia Cox and Helen Louise Bridges.
