Lawana Olson

February 13, 1926 — March 29, 2012

Lawana Olson, 86, of Sagle passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at her home. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00AM, Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Coffelt Funeral Service with Pastor Barry Johnson officiating. Interment will take place in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Friends may call at Coffelt Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from 2:00-6:00PM. She was born Feb. 13, 1926 in Sandpoint, Idaho the daughter of Noel and Chloe Hawkins. She moved with her family to Seattle in 1941 and graduated high school there in 1944. On August 18, 1945 she married William “Bill” Olson in Sandpoint. She lived her entire life in Sagle except for a few summers working for Inlet Salmon Company in Alaska. She also worked at Crystal Butterfly and for Silverwood Theme Park Company Store. Lawana was a dedicated volunteer as a member and past president of the Sagle PTA, a 50 year member of the Martha Chapter #34 OES and worked tirelessly with the Bonner County Fair Style shows. The joy of her life was her extended family with which she spent countless hours enjoyed playing horseshoes and cards. She enjoyed and would take on any sort of adventure; driving to Costa Rico in the early 70’s, visiting the Baja, Mexico on numerous occasions, traveling to Prague for her granddaughters wedding and vacations with her sister and friends in Hawaii. She spend winters in Tacna, AZ since 1970 where all of her family and friends gathered every year to enjoy the sun, travel to the desert and where any excuse was reason to party. Lawana is survived by 3 children: Donna Marie (Vern) Coulter of Sagle, ID, Edward N. (Sharon) Olson of Medford, OR, Sandra Kaye Olson of Livingston, MT; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren: 1 brother: Ralph Hawkins of Sagle; 3 sisters: Ruby Patterson of Sandpoint, Beulah Hale of Priest River, Janie Bradetich of Sagle; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and her companion Jim Gatens. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, 4 brothers: Lynn, Percy, Bob, and Wayne; and 3 sisters: Opal, Pearl and Noeline. The family suggests memorials to the Sagle Community Hall, %Carol Brown, 47 Chickadee Lane, Sagle, Idaho 83864.
