Mickie D. McGhee, 69, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho on Saturday, June 23, 2012 after a brave battle with cancer.
Mickie was born in St. Clair Shores, Michigan on January 17, 1943 to George and Marion Pierson. The family moved to Simi Valley, California where she graduated high school. After high school, Mickie lived in many different areas of the United States, became mother to three beloved children and finally found her home in Sandpoint, Idaho in 1970.
Mickie ran the first computer for the City of Sandpoint water department. She also worked for Health and Welfare until she married the love of her life, Floyd McGhee on April 15, 1981. Floyd and Mickie enjoyed working horses on their ranch. Mickie also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and most of all, spending time with her family and friends. Many people came to know and love her beautiful smiling face from her daily coffee at the 5th Avenue restaurant.
She is survived by her husband Floyd McGhee of Sandpoint; three children George (and Colleen) Haley; Scott (and Michelle) Beach ; and Brenda Beach. A step son, Tom (and Fran) McGhee, step-daughter Bobbie McGhee; and 8 grandchildren Seth Haley, Natasha Beach, Michael Beach, Trevor Beach, Kendra Beach, Darleen McGhee Barrios, Kory Kehle, and Kelly McGhee.
Mickie was preceded in death by her parents.
A small family service at graveside was held in Mickie’s honor. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
