Paul Hart

Paul Hart, 88, passed away in Colfax, WA on March 20, 2012. Graveside memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Saturday, July 21st in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Pastor Dave Olson will be officiating. A reception will follow at First Lutheran Church, 526, S. Olive in Sandpoint. Paul was born in Sandpoint, Idaho on Oct. 10, 1923 the son of Bill and Lucinda Hart. He graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1941 He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps, serving in the Pacific and on Okinawa, during WW II. He married Emily Erickson on Nov. 3, 1946 in Sandpoint. They lived in Fairbanks, Alaska until 1955 when they returned to the family farm on Selle Road. Paul drove lumber truck, worked at the Co-op, and for McFarland Pole Company retiring in 1985. Paul was an active member of Sandpoint First Lutheran Church and the Selle Grange. He enjoyed elk hunting, skiing, picking huckleberries, and traveling in the family RV. He is survived by his wife, of 65 years, Emily living in Colfax, WA; daughter Polly (and Kent) Jones of Kenmore, WA; son Daniel (and Becky) Hart of Colfax, WA; three grandchildren D.J., Traci, and Jay Paul. Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church of Sandpoint or to the Union Bonner Gospel Mission.
