Edward Quinn, 91, of Sandpoint passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Bonner General Hospital.
A Memorial Mass will be conducted 11:00 Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with Father Dennis C. Day officiating. The Rosary will be recited 7:00PM, Monday, July 23, 2012 at Coffelt Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will take place in Pinecrest Memorial Park following the Memorial Mass.
He was born Sept. 30, 1920 in Honolulu, Hawaii the son of John and Mary Gillis Quinn. He was raised and educated in Hawaii. He observed the bombing of Pearl Harbor and immediately after enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in France in the infantry during World War II where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart.
After the war he returned to San Francisco where he met and married Margaret Herald Maguire on March 3, 1946. He became a printer and worked at Night Kunahan, and The Palo Alto Times. In 1985 after suffering a heart attack he moved to Snohomish, WA. He lived there until 2010 when he moved to Sandpoint to be near his daughter.
He is survived by his daughter: Kathleen (Peter) Freeman of Dover, ID, 2 grandchildren: Josiah (Kimberly) Freeman of Phoenix, AZ, Jessica (Christopher Marks) Freeman of Lincoln, NE; 4 great grandchildren: Dorothy, Gabriel, Patrick, Victoria; 1 sister: Kathleen Brigham of Roseville, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by is wife in 2008, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
The family would like to thank Beth and all the wonderful staff at The Bridge, and Francy and nurses in ICU at Bonner General Hospital for all their loving care given to Edward.
