David Lawrence Harris

David Lawrence Harris, 69, of Sandpoint passed away at his home Tuesday, October 23, 2007. Private services will be held. David was born November 6, 1937 in Spokane, Washington, the only child of Byron and Ruth Lawrence Harris. He grew up in Omak, Washington where he graduated from high school. He was awarded a football scholarship to the University of Idaho and graduated from Central Washington University. He proudly served with the U.S. Navy UDT. Upon being honorably discharged he attained the rank of Lieutenant from the Naval Reserve. After his military duty he began working for Northern Trust in Chicago, Illinois. It was there he met and married his first wife Margot Frank. They moved to Seattle, Washington in 1968 then on to Walnut Creek, California in 1970. He founded Harris, Bertall, Sullivan and Smith, Inc. in San Francisco, California. He retired in 1998 and moved to Sandpoint. He was on the board of directors for Idaho Trust of Boise and Kinderhaven of Sandpoint. He enjoyed hunting, trap shooting and following the stock market. He also loved travelling where he met his current wife, Kanya in Thailand. Family members include his wife, Kanya Harris of Sandpoint, ID; four daughters, Pamela Harris Annis of Asheville, N.C., Victoria Harris Diaz of Denver, Colorado, Pip and Pal Harris of Sandpoint, ID; 2 sons, William Byron Harris of LaFayette, CA and David Todd Harris of Washington D.C.; and also 4 grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made in David’s name to Kinderhaven of Sandpoint, P.O. Box 2079, Sandpoint, Idaho 83864.
