Alice Edna Steele Campion, 103, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Valley Vista Care Center in Sandpoint, Idaho, at the age of 103 years. Alice was the last of the pioneer family of J.D. Steele in Longmont, Colorado.
Alice lived in the home built by her parents in the Altona community. She lived in Longmont, CO for a short time before moving to Montana in 2000, to live with her daughter Donna Platt.
Alice was a member of the Hygiene Methodist Church, Altona Grange, the order of the Eastern Star and sang with the Sweet Adelines. She loved crafts, of all types, while she could see. Most of her life was being a caregiver in her home, caring for her home, garden and flowers.
In February 1929 she married Charles Campion and they were blessed with three daughters and one son.
She was preceded in death by her parents J.D. and Blanche Steele, her husband Charles, infant daughter Betty Jo, Sister Phoebe (Roy) Green. Brothers; Merle, Andrew, Douglas, Everett, Ray and Jesse; several nieces and nephews.
Alice is survived by her daughters Phyllis Carlson, Donna (Richard) Platt, her son Tom (Jean) Campion; six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, (MST) in the Heron United Methodist Church; with a pot luck to follow. Inurnment will be held later in Colorado.
