Evalyn Rose McIntire

July 1, 1918 — October 5, 2012

Evalyn Rose McIntire peacefully departed this world October 5, 2012 to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Evalyn, or to those who loved her most, Granny, began her beautiful journey July 1, 1918. As a teenager growing up in Southern California, she survived the great depression and met her beloved husband, Eugene in Bible College. God gave Evalyn the gift of playing the piano as a young girl. This gift served her throughout her childhood and she used it beautifully to serve the Lord and bless many in her lifetime. Gene and Evalyn spent decades raising their children and bringing the Word of the Lord to everyone they encountered. There was no bigger purpose to either of them to minister and serve their Savior. Evalyn and Gene moved to Sandpoint in 1967, falling madly in love with the area after driving across the long bridge. Gene remodeled the house they shared on Oak Street and that became “Home” for generations of their family. They loved to spend time taking their 5th wheel camping and fishing, loving on their children and grandchildren, and ministering to all that came in contact with them. Evalyn served the Lord through her work at Youth with a Mission in Kona, Hawaii, Chico, California and Flathead Lake, Montana. For many years, she gave joy by playing piano on a regular basis at Valley Vista Nursing Home and Life Care. Even in the latter part of her life she would say “I went and played for the old folk today.” She also played the organ at Coffelt’s Funeral Services. She volunteered for 40 years for the Bonner General Hospital Auxiliary. She was active in the local Alzheimer’s Support Group, Habitat for Humanity, and wherever else God wanted to use her. Her piano could be heard for decades in her church’s Sunday services. Evalyn was beloved by her family and the hundreds of friends she had all over the world. Her beautiful style of living touched many people’s hearts. Evalyn’s infectious wit and straightforward, gracious, approach to life brought joy and comfort to all those who were a part of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene and her daughter, Rosalyn. She is survived by her son, John McIntire and his wife Kathy, her four granddaughters, four grandsons, 21 great grandchildren and six great, great grandchildren. Granny will be forever missed and always in our hearts. Now, all those whose lives she touched, can hum “What a day that will be when my Jesus I will see. What a day, glorious day that will be,” and know she is indeed dancing with Jesus right now. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 12:30 at the Sandpoint Assembly of God, 423 N. Lincoln, Sandpoint, Idaho. Donations may be made to Daybreak House, 820 Main Street, Sandpoint, Idaho 83864.
