Charles D McKenzie

Charles Dee “MAC” McKenzie, 85, passed away in Sagle, Idaho on Dec. 24, 2007. A rosary vigil will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 7 PM on Friday, Jan. 11th. The Funeral Mass will conducted at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, Saturday Jan. 12, 2008. Father Dennis C. Day will be officiating. He was born on Sept. 28, 1922 in Stantonville, TN the son of James E and Myrtle L McKenzie. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on 12 March 1941, serving during WW II, and the Korean War. He retired 12 December 1960 as a Damage Control Chief. He married Miriam H. Boland in 1946, and she died in the early 1970s, Living in the San Diego area from 1945 until 1976 he dabbled in Real Estate, worked for the Kettenbourg Marine until the early 1970s when he established his own boat shop. In 1977 he moved to Sagle, ID where many came to appreciate him for his excellent finish carpentry, custom furniture making, and his wonderful gardens. He was an employee of Don Richardson Excavating for 10 years. He married Patricia I. Butcher 29 February 1980 and their marriage was blessed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on 13 November 1993. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Carpenter and Boatbuilder Union, The Fleet Reserve Association, and life member of both the VFW Post 2453 and the DAV Post ____. He leaves his wife “Patti” at their home in Sagle; 3 step-sons Craig (Laura) Butcher of Fallon, NV; Marc (Vicky) Butcher of Sacramento, CA; Brett (Corinne) of Pasco, WA; 2 grandchildren Craig (Jainbao) Butcher serving in the U.S. Navy, currently stationed at New London, CT; Kristeen Butcher of Fallon, NV; 2 sisters Glorina Wright of Las Cruces, NM; Margretta Stitts of Huntington Beach, CA; 1 brother Howell McKenzie of Gas City, IN. Numerous nieces and nephews plus several children who consider him a great adopted “Grandpa Mac.” His parents, first wife, and 2 brothers James Rogers McKinzey and Lawrence Alton McKenzie preceded him in death. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Building Fund, PO Box 379, Sandpoint, Idaho 83864; or Bonner County Food Bank, 921 N. 5th Avenue, Sandpoint, Idaho 83864; or Lions Club – Toys for Tots Program, PO Box 414, Sandpoint, ID 83864.
