Gary Edward Vaughan, age 74, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 at his home in Sagle, Idaho. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 3rd at the Zion Baptist Church 1527 E. 16th Avenue, Post Falls, Idaho. Gary will be layed to rest at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Sandpoint, Idaho. Gary was born September 28, 1938 in Bakersfield, California to Ralph and Lelah Vaughan. On November 29, 1963 He married Doris Maxey of Sandpoint, Idaho. They made several moves across country including Florida, Washington and California before finally settling in Sagle, Idaho 18 years ago. Gary is survived by his wife Doris of 49 years, daughters Hazel Koenig of Rock Springs, WY., Daniele and Ronald Meyer, Whidbey Island, WA, Deborah and Dan Gibbs Green River, WY, Laural Ann Johnson, Spokane, WA, Gloria and Dallas Howell, Spirit Lake, Idaho, sons Clarence and Molly Maxey, Post Falls, ID, Joseph Hedahl, Omak, WA., Michael Perry, Seattle, WA and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Gary was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters Kathryn Goforth, Barbara Mehuron, and a son, Charles Riffle. Gary loved to work, starting out as a teenager working in the celery sheds in California. He later started a business as a self-employed carpet installer for 35 years until he was forced to retire due to illness. After retiring10 years ago Gary like to occupy his time with woodworking projects in his shop. He was always there to help friends with carpentry projects, bird houses, squirrel feeders or whatever else they needed him for. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, mechanics, reading, and watching sports. You could always find him at home on the weekends watching Dale Jr. racing Nascar, and watching his favorite Pro football teams. A special thank you to Gary’s sister-in-law Lillian Knoblich of Sagle, ID., and Coffelt Funeral home. A time of gathering and pot luck will be held after the service, November 3rd from 11:00am until 12pm at the Zion Baptist Church in Post Falls, Idaho.
