Milton H. “Bud” Mosley, 74, passed away at home in Heron, MT on Friday, November 2nd, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Bud was born January 16, 1938 in Toombs County, GA to Jackson L. Mosley and Viola Boatright Mosley. Bud’s growing years were happily spent in the Rock Hill, SC and SE GA areas. He graduated from Rock Hill High School and joined the US Air Force. Bud served his country honorably for eight years including considerable time in Special Operations in SE Asia during the Vietnam Era conflict. Bud met and married his wife, Diane Smith Mosley, in Miami, FL in 1981. Early in their marriage, they relocated to Port St. Lucie, FL where they spent many happy years. Bud was employed as a Nuclear Reactor Operator, and later as a Quality Control Auditor for Florida Power and Light Company at the St. Lucie Nuclear Plant, Hutchinson Island, Jensen Beach, FL. He retired in 1993 after 23 years of service. In 1994, the family, including son Daniel, relocated to Heron, MT. Bud truly loved life in the peaceful and beautiful Clark Fork River Valley, which he recognized as a true gift from God.
Bud attended Cabinet Mountain Calvary Chapel in Clark Fork, ID where he greatly enjoyed teaching children’s bible study with his wife Diane for many years. He served for many years on the Heron Rural Fire Dept. Board of Directors and greatly enjoyed participation in the Heron Players drama group, bringing many memorable characters to life over the years. Bud was a talented craftsman who enjoyed creating Western decorative art items and children’s wooden toys. Bud’s greatest love after God and family was flying his Cessna 175 in this incredibly beautiful mountainous area. Many of his life’s dreams were fulfilled living in MT for which he was most grateful.
Bud was preceded in death by his natural parents, Jackson L. Mosley and Viola Boatright Mosley; his foster mother and father, Daniel and Minnie Walker; his son, Mikele Lee Mosley; and his daughter, Minnie Elizabeth Mosley. He is survived by his wife, Diane of Heron; son Daniel J.P. Mosley of Vancouver, WA; daughter, Charri Mosley Walters of Medford, OR; daughter Tina Mosley of Mt. View, HI; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Bud is also survived by his loving step-mother, Bonnie Mosley of Brunswick, GA, along with sisters, Helen O’Neal of Tampa, FL; Joanna Solock, Brenda Howell and Judy Wallace of Brunswick, GA; brother Philip S. Mosley of Brunswick, GA, and many loving nieces and nephews. There will be a Life Celebration Memorial Service at Cabinet Mountain Calvary Chapel in Clark Fork, ID, Pastor Scott Douglas officiating, on Saturday, December 1st.
