Andrew D “Andy” Anderson, 70, died in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11; 00 AM, Saturday, December 22nd, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Dale Coffelt will be officiating with inurnment in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Andy was born in Auburn, California on March 20, 1942, the son of Linden and Rula Anderson. He attended schools in Auburn, CA, graduating from high school in Reno, Nevada in 1960. He attended the University of Nevada in Reno and also worked on the family ranch in Auburn. He served with the US Army, in Germany, during the Viet Nam conflict.
Andy operated the family ranch, and started his law enforcement career, in 1967 in Placer County, California. In February of 1972 he moved to Sandpoint, Idaho; going to work for the Bonner County Sheriff’s office. He worked, for a short time, with the Bonners Ferry Police Department, prior to joining the Sandpoint City Police Department on April 14, 1977. In 2000 he retired, as a Detective Lieutenant, from the department. Andy also served as Bonner County Deputy Coroner for many years.
Andy married Christin Campbell in Forest Hills, California on Sept. 6, 1964. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and numerous law enforcement associations. He was a Boy Scout leader for Pack 117.
Andy enjoyed all outdoor activities and his cabin in Benewah County. He loved his restored Model A Ford, even when it ran out of gas.
Andy is survived by his wife of 48 years Christin Anderson in Sandpoint; 2 sons Linden (and Rebecca) Anderson in Edmonds, WA; Christopher
(and Jeanne) Anderson in Killeen, TX; 4 grandchildren Keenen Anderson in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; Campbell Anderson in Killeen, TX; Nathan and Cameron Anderson in Edmonds, WA; and his brother Steve Martin in Canby, OR.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
