Ernest “Dale” Jeffres, 76, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho on Monday, February 11, 2008.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday,
February 16, 2008, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Dale Coffelt will officiate with interment in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 15th, from 12 noon until 6:00 PM, at Coffelt Funeral Service.
Dale was born in Sheridan, Wyoming on August 21, 1931, the son of Ernest and Sylvia Jeffres. The family moved to Sagle when Dale was 5 years old and he attended Bonner County Schools. He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict, being stationed in Germany with an Armored Infantry Battalion. On April 30, 1966 he married Betty Forell in
Coeur d’Alene, ID.
He returned to Sandpoint and worked for Cox Implement, Furniture Exchange, and the Bonner County School District as a school bus driver and mechanic. In 1978 Dale established D & B Appliance Repair which he operated until 1992. In his last job he enjoyed working for the U.S. Forest Service, helping maintain service roads in the district.
Dale was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and owned a Palomino stallion named Nuggett. He enjoyed raising, and riding, horses. He loved rodeos, hunting, fishing, camping, boating and RVing. He liked to play his guitar and listen to country western music.
Surviving are his wife, of almost 42 years, Betty Jeffres of Sandpoint, ID;
3 children Bobbi Jo Davis of Coeur d’Alene, ID; Randy E (and Deanna) Jeffres of Rathdrum, ID; Jill (and Frank) Palmer of Tacoma, WA; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. His sister Virginia Bonner of Spokane, WA; and sister-in-law June (and Harry) Robertson of Sandpoint, ID; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
His parents and a brother Alvie preceded him in death.
