Madeline G King

January 24, 1924 — February 2, 2013

Madeline G. (Converse) King, 89, passed away in Meridian, Idaho on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 11; 00 AM, Saturday, February 9th, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel. Dale Coffelt will be officiating with interment in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Madeline was born in Bostwick, NE on January 24, 1924, the daughter of Irvin and Mary Hiatt. She was one of nine children. The family moved, by rail, to Sandpoint when she was a child. She attended Bonner County Schools, graduating from Sandpoint High School. On April 26, 1942 she married Dan Converse in Sandpoint, ID. He preceded her in death in 1977. In Sandpoint she worked as a Medical Secretary for Dr. John Smith and also at Sandpoint Drug. She worked for J C Penny’s in the baby department and in the home décor department, retiring in 1985. On December 4, 1982 she married Clarence King in Sandpoint and he preceded her in death in 1992. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and a longtime member of the Sandpoint United Methodist Church. Madeline is survived by 2 children Diane (and John) Parker in Meridian, Idaho; Ron Converse in Sandpoint, Idaho; 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren; two sister Margene McNutt in Cataldo, ID; Gen Holden in Spokane, WA. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 6 siblings, and her daughter-in-law Cathy Converse.
