Richard W. “Dick” Sherwood, 78 passed away in Sandpoint on Monday, March 25, 2013.
A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Western Pleasure Guest Ranch. Pastor Barry Johnson, New Song Bible Church, will be officiating
Dick was born in Sandpoint, Idaho on August 21, 1934 the son of William (Bob) and Ruth Sherwood. He graduated from the 8th grade at the Wrencoe School and then from Sandpoint High School with the class of 1951.
He worked for Pack River Lumber Company and Northern Lights prior to starting his career with Pacific Power and Light. In 1994 he retired from Pacific Power and Light as a line foreman.
Dick was a member of the IBEW, was active in Little League and coached youth baseball. He enjoyed horse packing trips into the wilderness area, was an avid hunter, hunting cougar, elk and deer. He also volunteered at the Bonner County Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Maggie at the home in Sagle, ID; his son Wayne (Laurie) Sherwood in Tulsa, OK; his daughter Julie (Brad) Palmen in Eugene, OR; 5 grandchildren Dustin, Robert and Tyler Sherwood; Kate (Casey) Calamusa; and Kelsey (Justin) Felt; and a great grand daughter. Also surviving are his brother Doug Sherwood in Tucson, AZ; and his sister Gail Curless in Dover, ID.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert K Sherwood.
Memorials may be made to the Bonner County Historical Society, in memory of Dick Sherwood.
